The Indian Cricket Team is the official cricket team of India. India has produced several outstanding cricketers of the world, who have become legends of the game itself. Among Indian cricketing legends include the names of players like Vijay Merchant, CK Naidu, Lala Amarnath, Erapalli Prasanna, Vinoo Mankad, Farokh Engineer, BS Chandrasekhar, Bishen Singh Bedi, Gundappa Viswanath, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Mohinder Amarnath, Mohammed Azharuddin, Anil Kumble,Saurov Ganguly,Rahul Drivid and the world's most popular Sachin Tendulkar, who's also a part of the India's ICC World Cup 2011 Sqad.

The India Cricket Team has participated in all the ICC Cricket World Cups since 1975. India won the 1983 World Cup to beat West Indies by 43 runs in the final at Lord's.They were runners-up in the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa and were reached to the World Cup semi-finals in 1987 and 1996 and winners of ICC Cricket World Cup in 1983. India is placed in Group B of the ICC World Cup 2011, along with South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands. India begins its campaign against Banglash at Dhaka and the team will rely on the successful captaincy of MS Dhoni for a Second Title. Under the cool captaincy of MS Dhoni, who led the side to victory in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in 2007, the number-one ranked Test team in the world and expected to deliver India its first World Cup title since 1983 A batting lineup containing Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni would command respect from any opposition. Add the dependable Gautam Gambhir, the in-form Yusuf Pathan and Virat Kohli to the mix, and it's an even more potent batting order while bowlers Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan will be relied upon for wickets. Sehwag (shoulder), Gambhir (hand) and Tendulkar (hamstring) missed all or part of the series in South Africa because of injuries, but are all fit now and considered certainties to take their places at the World Cup.

Zaheer Khan,Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel and Shantakumaran Sreesanth - a late replacement for injured Praveen Kumar - are the other seam options for India, while off-spinners Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin are slow-bowling options along with leg-spinner Piyush Chawla.
