This was the fifth Cup event (called Benson & Hedges World Cup) and was held from 22 February to 25 March 1992 in Australia and New Zealand.

This was the first time day/night matches was used and the first tournament to use white cricket balls and colored team uniforms.

The different stadiums in Australia and New Zealand were venues for the 39 matches played by 9 teams and it was for the first time that South Africa joined the tournament.

The final was played between Pakistan and England in Melbourne, Australia. Pakistan made 249 runs in 50 overs for 6 Wickets, compar4ed to England's total of 227 runs in 49.2 all out. Pakistan won by 22 Runs

Pakistan won by 22 runs and TheBenson & Hedges Cup was lifted by Imran Khan.

This was the fourth World Cup event (called the Reliance Cup) and was held from October 8 to November 8, 1987 in India and Pakistan - the first held outside England.

The different stadiums in India and Pakistan were venues for the 27 matches played by 8 teams. It was the first World Cup to feature neutral umpires. All the matches were played during the day.

The format was unchanged from previous World Cups, except for a reduction in the number of overs a team played from 60 to 50.

The first hat-trick at the World Cup was by Indian Chetan Sharma in a game against New Zealand in 1987

The various venues that hosted the Cricket World Cup 1987 matches were Niaz stadiums in Hyderabad, MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai, Municipal Stadium at Gujranwala in Pakistan, Pindi Club Ground at Rawalpindi in Pakistan, National stadiums at Karachi in Pakistan, M.Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bangalore, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Wankhede Stadium at Mumbai, Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, Nehru Stadium at Indore, Green Park Stadium at Kanpur, Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, Gujarat Stadium in Ahmedabad, Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Nehru stadium in Pune and Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur.

It was debut performance of two players Navjot Singh Sidhu of India and Tom Moody of Australia. Like other tournaments, the 1987 World cup also set many records. G A Gooch of England scored 471 runs in the 8 matches and set the record for the Highest Run-scorer. IVA Richards of West Indies scored 181 runs and became the player to achieve the record of Highest Individual Score. CJ McDermott of Australia took 18 wickets and set the record of the Highest Wicket-taker.

The final was played between Australia and England at the Eden Gardens stadium in Calcutta, India. Australia made 253 in their 50 overs with a loss of 5 wickets. In reply, England came up just short, making 246 in their 50 overs for a loss of 8 wickets. Australia won by 7 runs.

This was the third Cricket World Cup (called the Prudential Cup) and the tournament was held in England for the third consecutive time, between 9 and 25 June 1983. Eight teams participated in the tournament in which 27 matches were played. The matches consisted of 60 overs each. were played by 8 teams(Australia,England,India,New Zealand,Pakistan,West Indies,Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe)

A few changes were made in the tournament. A fielding circle, which is about 30 yards away from the circle, was introduced. It was made necessary that 4 fieldsmen should stand inside at all times.

The preliminary matches were played in 2 groups of 4 each as in the previous two tournaments, though this time each country played the other teams in it's group twice. The top two teams in each group qualified for the semi finals, and the winners of this played the final.

The tournament bid adieu to many players and also welcomed many new players. It was the final game for the Australian players Dennis Lillee, Jeff Thomson and Rodney Marsh.

A number of records were set in the Cricket World Cup 1983. David Gower of England scored 384 runs and set a record for the highest run-scorer. Indian bolwer RMH Binny took 18 wickets and became the player to take the most number of wickets. Indian player Kapil Dev took 7 catches and set a record for the most catches.

The final was played between India and the West Indies at the Lords ground in England. India scored 183 runs in 54.4 overs all out. In reply, the West Indies made 140 runs in 52 overs all out, with India winning by 43 runs.

New Zealand and Pakistan were the other semi finalists.
