Kenya Team
The Kenyan Cricket Team is the official cricket team of Kenya.Kenya was previously playing
cricket with Tasmania and Uganda in a team, which is collectively called East Africa. East Africa
has been participated in the 1975 world cup.
In
1981 Kenya
got associate membership of the ICC.
Kenya team is considered as
best non-Test playing nation in the world, Kenya have participated in three
editions of world cup in 1996,1999,2003 and 2007.
Kenya team is considered one
of the strongest of the associate member nations of the ICC, since reaching the
semi-final of the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
Kenya has qualified for the 1996 world cup because sue to they are the runners up 1994 ICC Trophy. They have not well in world cup matches but they made major upsets by defeating the West Indies by 73 runs. After that World Cup

This was the eighth Cup event and was held from 9 February to 24 March. 2003 in South Africa,Zimbabwe,Kenya was the first time that the Cricket World Cup had been held in Africa The tournament followed the format introduced in the 1999 Cricket World Cup with the teams divided into 2 groups, and the top three in each group qualifying for the Super Sixes stage. The tournament saw upsets in the first round with South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and England failing to make it to Super Sixes stage while Zimbabwe and Kenya made it to Super Sixes stage and Kenya, a non-Test playing nation, made the semi-finals of the tournament. It saw the number of participating teams increase to 14, comprising of Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe, along with the ICC Trophy Qualifiers - Canada, Namibia, and the Netherlands. A total of 54 matches were played in the tournament (the most in World Cup history so far). The Match was held in various venues in the three countries. While The Wanderers, Newlands, Kingsmead, St Georges Park, Super Sport Park, Goodyear Park, Buffalo Park, De Beers Diamond Oval, Boland Park, City Oval, Willowmoore Park and North West Cricket Stadium were the stadiums that hosted the tournament in South Africa, Harare Sports Club and Queens Sports Club were venues to Cricket World Cup 2003 in Zimbabwe. Nairobi Gymkhana Club was the stadium that was a witness to one of the matches in the tournament.
The teams were divided into Group A and Group B. Australia, England, Pakistan, India, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Holland belonged to Group A whereas South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand, Kenya, Bangladesh and Canada were put in Group B. The Final was played between Australia and India on 23 March in Johannesburg, South Africa. Australia batted first and made 359 runs in 50 overs losing only 2 wickets. In reply India made 234 after being all out in 39.2 overs. Australia were crowned champions after beating India by 125 runs. Scores: Australia 359/2 50 overs (RT Pointing 140) India 232 off 39.2 overs (Sehwag 82). Australia won by 125 Runs and The World Cup 2003 lifted by RT Ponting(who is the member of currect WC Sqad). This was the seventh world Cup tournament and was held from May 14 to June 20, 1999. This was primarily hosted by England but it was also held in Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands. Twelve teams took part in the tournament in which 42 matches were played. This tournament has a similar group stage format to in 1996, though there was a dramatic change in the second stage, where a "Super Six" round replaced the quarter-finals One of the greatest matches in the ICC World Cup history was the Australia and South Africa tied game in their semi-final. The main venues of the tournament include the Lord's Stadium in London, County Ground at Hove, County Ground at Taunton, VRA Cricket Ground at Amstelveen in the Netherlands, County Ground in Worcester in England, County Ground in Chelmsford, St Lawrence Ground at Canterbury, County Ground in Northampton, Grange Cricket Club at Edinburgh in Scotland, Sophia Gardens at Cardiff in Whales, Riverside Ground at Chester-le-Street in England, Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, County Ground in Southampton, Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester, Trent Bridge at Nottingham, County Cricket Ground at Birmingham and Castle Avenue at Dublin in Ireland. The concept of Super Six was introduced in this tournament. The teams were divided into Group A and Group B. The top three from each group were qualified to play in the Super Six matches where each of the three teams from Group A had to face the three teams from Group B. The top four teams in the Super Six matches participated in the semi finals.
The final was played between Australia and Pakistan at Lords, London. Australia made 133 runs in 20.1 overs for 2 wickets, in reply Pakistan made 132 All out in 39 Overs. Australia won by 8 Wickets. This was the sixth World Cup event (called Wills World Cup) and was held from from 16th February to 17th March 1996. It was the second World Cup to be hosted by Pakistan and India, for the first time by Sri Lanka. Twelve teams competed in the tournament that had 37 matches. The sixth world cup tournament began with a controversy, when Australia and West Indies refused to send their teams to Sri Lanka where LTTE triggered major attacks. The tournament has introduction of third umpire in front of the TV monitor that gives the final decision if the field umpire is confused on taking a decision of whether the player is out or not out. The third umpire gives the decision by repeatedly monitoring the TV display. Several players bid adieu to their profession after this tournament. Manoj Prabhakar of India Javed Miandad and Ramiz Raja of Pakistan, Robin Smith of England, Richie Richardson and Roger Harper of West Indies, Asanka Gurusinha of Sri Lanka, Dipak Patel of New Zealand, Andy Waller of Zimbabwe and Australian player Craig McDermott. Pakistan bowler Waqar Younis made his first World Cup appearance in this tournament. Indian bowler Anil Kumble took 15 wickets in the tournament and set the record for the top wicket-taker. Sachin Tendulkar scored 523 runs top break the record of top run scorer. These are some of the various records in the Cricket world Cup 1996. The final was played between Sri Lanka and Australia in Lahore, Pakistan. Australia made 241 runs in 50 overs for a loss of 7 wickets. In reply, Sri Lanka made 245 runs in 46.2 overs and won by 3 wickets. Scores: Australia 241/7 off 50 (MA Tayler 74) Sri Lanka 245/3 off 46.2 overs (PA De Silva 107).
